“I contacted Jennie after an injury while training for a half marathon, and she got me back into training and pain free before the race! More than that I have learned so much on how to prevent future injuries and strengthen areas of my body to really feel good as I age (and be able to run for years to come).”

-Denise

“Originally came to address some pelvic floor issues but within a month suffered a back injury. Dr. Jennie was able to address both issues and I have been able to avoid surgery. As someone who has a chronic autoimmune condition I have continued to come for therapy which has improved my strength, mobility and pain levels. Dr. Jennie is caring and thinks of you as a whole person not just a number.”

-Lisa M.

“I went to Jennie Murray after exhausting all the traditional fixes for my lower back problem; dry needling, massage, traditional PT, etc. I could not get in or out of a chair or car and was just adamant I did not want to start down the never-ending road of shots in my back. Her focus and training on the pelvic area—which includes lower back—is amazing. Given exercises and PT therapy that target my weak back has been immediately helpful.”

Addressing the Root Cause: Healing the Body & Mind

Our approach goes beyond symptom relief; it addresses the entire pain experience.

We use comprehensive assessment to discover the underlying causes of your dysfunction—which often involves an over-sensitized nervous system.

We then utilize manual therapy and other targeted techniques to treat the root cause, allowing us to decrease pain and build the necessary strength and mobility to regain function and ensure lasting relief.

“Jennie has changed my life! I am 13 months postpartum (and 6 months pregnant!). This last year, I’ve had nothing but residual pain/dull aches from my first birth and a really hard year chock full of stress. I started pelvic PT down in Charleston in May of 2024 & wondered why I never truly felt better. Fast forward to my first session in late November of 2024 when we moved back to the CLT area. I was referred to Jennie by countless moms on a common FB group. I’ve now seen her 4 times, and she’s helped bring more healing than I experienced for the last 8 months [...]”

-Molly M.

“Jennie listens well, is truly curious about figuring out how to best solve your issues, and obviously knowledgeable. Where so many practitioners these days tend to be stuck in a formulaic rut, Jennie is someone who thinks outside the box to give you the best personalized care possible. After leaving other places feeling broken and hopeless, I am thrilled to leave therapy feeling capable and hopeful.”

-Brittney R.

“Jennie is an excellent physical therapist who takes a holistic approach to treatment. She not only addresses symptoms but also explains how everything in the body is connected and identifies the root causes of issues. Her one-on-one care and the consistency of seeing the same provider at every visit made a big difference in my recovery. Each session built on the progress from the last, allowing Jennie to monitor my improvement and adjust the treatment plan as needed. ”

-Melinda S.

“I would give Jennie 10 stars if I could. Here's why:

  1. Pelvic floor dysfunction can be a personal, intimate subject. Jennie put me at ease immediately in our conversation about it.
  2. She did a very thorough interview and assessment of my situation. She is very experienced and knowledgeable on the topic of Pelvic floor dysfunction. She explained it to me and helped me understand the root causes of my symptoms.
  3. She made a treatment plan to address my specific problems. Each visit She listened and adjusted her plan based on my symptoms.
  4. She gave me tools, resources and strategies for improving my pelvic health.
  5. Many of my symptoms have improved thanks to her diligent, kind and thoughtful care and expertise.
  6. Her patient room is very clean and welcoming.”

  • Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is non-surgical approach to rehabilitation of dysfunctions in the pelvis that contribute to bowel, bladder, sexual health, and pain complaints.

Pelvic Physical Therapists are neuromusculoskeletal experts who aim to treat patients with pelvic dysfunction who are limited in daily function.

Not every Physical Therapist can treat pelvic floor, additional training is required!

When looking for a pelvic floor PT it is important to inquire if they perform internal as well as external pelvic exams. If they do not perform internal exams, they are not specifically trained in pelvic floor rehabilitation and your treatment and success in resolving your complaints will be limited.

  • Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

Many people associate treatment of their pelvic floor with doing Kegels. It’s what doctors have always told patients to do, so it became common knowledge.

This is one of the greatest myths.

Studies have shown that up to 40% of women when asked to perform a pelvic floor muscle contraction, do so incorrectly. In fact, many times it’s a completely inappropriate exercise to prescribe to someone, and could be making their condition worse.

The reason for this is that the underlying cause of the symptoms could be attributed to muscle stiffness or spasm, not just weakness.

A muscle in spasm is shortened and contracting it systematically many times a day can be making it more spasmed and more painful.

The correct treatment most often is to first lengthen and release the muscle before proceeding with the strengthening.

Your Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist will be able to evaluate your muscles and determine the appropriate plan of care based on their findings.

  • Physical therapy is often the ideal solution if you feel limited by chronic issues or haven't found lasting relief with other treatments.

It's likely the right choice if any of the following describes your current situation:

    • You've tried other treatments without success. You've been managing pain with medication, injections, or previous therapies that provided only temporary relief, leaving you feeling frustrated or hopeless.

    • You suffer from pelvic health issues. You experience pelvic pain, discomfort, or suffer from urinary incontinence, leaking, or frequent urges. This also includes issues like pelvic organ prolapse, pain during intercourse (dyspareunia), or pregnancy and postpartum discomfort.

    • You experience musculoskeletal pain or restriction. You are limited by muscle or joint pain in your neck, back, hips, shoulders, or extremities. This includes conditions like sciatica, chronic headaches, stiffness, poor balance, or pain that prevents you from exercising or enjoying daily activities.

If you are looking for a root cause solution and a dedicated partner to help you regain control and lasting function, the answer is Jennie Murray Physical Therapy.

We highly recommend scheduling a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your specific needs.

  • Each session is dedicated entirely to you.

Unlike clinics that double-book, you receive one full hour of one-on-one, focused care with your physical therapist, depending on the treatment plan.

  • The total number of sessions is highly personalized and varies based on your specific condition and goals.

Because you receive dedicated one-on-one care, treatment is more focused and efficient.

We typically find that this concentrated approach often requires fewer total visits compared to traditional high-volume clinics to achieve your goals.

  • For your comfort and the effectiveness of your treatment, please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement and therapeutic exercise.

We often need to access the area being treated—for example, wear shorts for a knee problem or a tank top for a shoulder assessment.

  • No, a referral is not required to start treatment.

You can schedule your first appointment directly.

Important: Always confirm with your insurance company, as they may require a physician's referral for processing out-of-network claims.

  • To ensure you receive the highest quality care and achieve the fastest, most lasting results, we operate on an out-of-network basis. Health insurance often limits the type of treatment we can provide, the number of visits, and even the amount of dedicated time we can spend with you.

By not being restricted by insurance company rules, we are free to develop a personalized treatment plan focused entirely on your best outcome, not on what a third party will cover.

This means more time spent one-on-one and access to the most effective techniques, leading to a quicker recovery.

  • While we do not bill insurance directly, we are happy to provide you with a detailed invoice (superbill) that includes all necessary insurance and treatment codes.

You can submit this to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network benefits. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to understand your specific benefits.

  • Yes, physical therapy is an eligible expense for both Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) if it is medically necessary. To qualify, the therapy must be medically necessary to treat a condition like an injury, not just for general health.

Contact your HSA/FSA administrator for specific instructions on how to submit a claim and what paperwork is required.

  • We understand that unexpected events occur, but maintaining your scheduled commitment is vital to the progress we achieve together. We ask for mutual respect regarding our time and schedule.

    • Cancellation Policy: We require 24 hours' notice during business hours (Monday through Friday) to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Example: If your appointment is on Monday at 10 AM, you must notify us by Friday at 10 AM. Notifications received outside of business hours (e.g., on Saturday or Sunday) will be counted as insufficient notice for a Monday appointment.

    • Late Cancellation Fee: A fee of $90 will be charged for cancellations or rescheduling requests received with less than 24 hours' business notice.

    • No-Show Policy: Patients who fail to arrive for their scheduled session without any prior notice will be charged the full appointment fee.

Your adherence to this policy allows us to maintain the highest quality of focused, dedicated care for all our patients.
